Domestic v Commercial Microwaves: Why should I be buying a commercial microwave over a domestic for my commercial kitchen?

1. Domestic microwaves are designed for minimal use, like 2-3 times a day only. A commercial microwave is designed for high demand environments where they are to be used up to 50 times a day or more.
2. Domestic microwaves have a turntable, which is fiddly and could easily break in high demand environments. Commercial microwaves have an internal stirrer and ceramic base with a seal meaning they are easier to use, easier to clean and have a greater internal capacity.
3. Domestic microwaves lack control over power levels and cooking times. Whereas commercial microwaves deliver higher power, due to larger more robust magnetrons, transformers, capacitors etc and allow for adjustable cooking times and power levels with programable menus / staged cooking feature allowing you to get precise and consistent results.
4. Domestic microwaves deliver the microwaves through the side of the machine through a small perforation. Commercial microwaves distribute the microwaves into a larger area via a larger stirrer either in the base, top or both.
5. Commercial microwaves have a more robust construction, with steel hinges and door handle. They also have a double-glazed door, with a sealed dot matrix. Domestic microwaves have a sticker on the inside which easily gets damaged once food begins to stick to it and is then reheated as it begins to melt away the inside sticker.
